Cashel *SEES* Doctor Brooks

After months of waiting, Cashel has just been seen by the nation's leading research doctor on coloboma (thank you Children's National Medical Center in DC). The verdict? Cashel DOES have some vision in his left eye!!!! It's very blurry, and there are probably only "islands" of vision, but the doctor was hopeful that his vision can be helped as he continues to develop. It will never be perfect, and there will never be anything that will *fix* the coloboma, but this is good news. Next steps...GLASSES!!! Partly to give the left eye the clearest picture possible, and partly to protect the right eye from injury. We'll also be embarking on a regiment of eye-patching for two hours a day. Wowzers. We thought Cashel had a bit of a temper already...I have a feeling we're going to see some interesting reactions, and I don't mean pirate impersonations!! All in all, we're so thankful, so thankful for a more positive prognosis for those beautiful blues.
